There are millions of excess shipping containers worldwide sitting in dockyards and surplus yards all over the world. Many of these end up rusting away and are never used again. Buying one is no more difficult that visiting the local moving company, commercial surplus store or dockyards.

There are many uses for a shipping container, from the obvious (actually shipping something) to the not so obvious such as using them to build a house! The surplus stores that sell them wont care what you are doing with them because they just want them sold. If you require more than one container don’t be afraid to try and negotiate a better price. If you happen to live near a port or dock then you will probably be able to get an even better deal. Keep in mind that you may have to organize transport of the shipping container from the storage yard to wherever you want it.
